Santa Margarita Beautiful Wants YOU!
New community organization looking for others to help organize
April 2008 Santa Margarita community-wide clean-up event

(SANTA MARGARITA) Do you live in Santa Margarita? Have you made a New Year’s resolution to make 2007 the year that you finally clear out the clutter? Would you like to finally get rid of all that stuff that is piling up in your closets, garage, back yard and cupboards and join forces with others ready to do the same?

A coalition of Santa Margarita residents has been hard at work planning the biggest spring cleaning project Santa Margarita has ever seen, and they are looking for others to join the effort. They have set their sights on April 2008, and they are planning several coordinated events, including a community-wide garage sale on April 26, followed by a curbside trash pick-up on May 1st, and culminating with a community clean up event on May 3rd.

The group’s website ( www.SantaMargaritaBeautiful.org ) provides this description of the group and its effort:

We are residents of Santa Margarita who love our community and hope to establish a volunteer based community action organization dedicated to community improvement activities and beautification through community involvement.

We love the rustic charm of Santa Margarita and have no desire to ‘glamorize’ our community. Instead, we are hoping to improve our community with the following goals:

• Hands-on community improvement activities where volunteers learn how to take personal responsibility for improving their local community environment and quality of life.
• Work with businesses, schools, neighborhoods and local Government to focus on litter prevention, waste reduction and beautification / community improvement.
• Establish a diverse, highly effective program that instills Community pride and will produce tangible local benefits (Santa Margarita’s Creek Clean-up is a great example of this).

Organizers are planning their more meetings and they are inviting any volunteers from the community who want to help plan and coordinate the activities to attend. For more information, contact David Blakely, 805-438-5956 / 4385956@gmail.com
